Guangzhou Changlong Panda Hotel shone like a star as its annual Christmas lighting ceremony commenced amidst warmth and celebration. Over twenty choir students from NAS Guangzhou presented a distinctive festive feast for hundreds of guests and visitors with their pure and heartfelt voices. Their golden waves of sound became the first light to illuminate the hotel's entire Christmas display.
As dusk settled that evening, the colossal Christmas tree adorning the hotel façade awaited illumination. Amidst the audience's eager anticipation, the choir members, dressed in matching formal attire, ascended the stage with measured steps. Without elaborate accompaniment, only crystalline voices—they performed the classic Christmas piece Solfege Christmas in a cappella style. Notes drifted down like snowflakes, the children conveying festive joy and tranquillity through precise pitch and delicate emotion.

Next, the contemporary and hopeful ‘The Other Side’ filled the air. Though not a traditional carol, its warm melody and theme of journeying towards the light cleverly echoed the ceremony's core concept of ‘illumination’. The children's voices layered and interwove, seeming to pierce the winter chill and herald the promise of spring. As the final note faded, thunderous applause erupted and the Christmas lights came to life—a kaleidoscope of illuminations instantly transforming the hotel plaza. Cheers mingled with the play of light and shadow, creating a sea of festive celebration.
‘Children's voices are the purest form of magic,’ remarked a school teacher present. "We consistently encourage our pupils to connect with the world and convey emotions through art. Tonight, they represent not only our school but the younger generation's yearning for a better life."

On this night gently enveloped in light and song, Guangnuo students embodied the core of the Christmas spirit through music—sharing, hope, and love. As one audience member remarked: It is not the lamps that light up the night, but the children's songs that first illuminate our hearts.
